Food Processing Equipment

Specialty processing equipment are designed for every process in the production of food.   Since the food products vary greatly such as bakery, poultry, fish, confectionary or dairy, so too does the plastics products that are used to make the machined parts that are critical in the function of the equipment.   Whether its for mixing, scraping, spinning or static applications it is important to consider several factors to optimize your material selection in a food processing environment.  Many products we offer have dual compliance for both North America (FDA)& Europe (EU 10/2011/EU).

Factors in Material Selection

  • Hygiene, sanitation, easy access, ease of cleaning
  • Level of friction – lower CoF, less lubrication required
  • Mechanical performance based on required function
  • Thermal properties if required, strength over temperature range
  • Appropriate level of detectability

Typical Applications

  • Scrapers
  • Mixing Blades
  • Gears
  • Dosing Pistons

Common Materials (Food Grade)

  • Nylon
  • PET
  • PEEK
  • Acetal

Featured Materials

  • Hydex 4101 UD Blue – This Tri Detectable material is PBT polyester based offering the highest level of detection while being able to perform in extreme environments.   HYDEX 4101 UD blue exhibits the very good physical properties typical of polyesters as well as excellent resistance to chlorine and caustic cleaning solutions.
  • Ketron MD PEEK – This dual detectable material is for the most demanding applications requiring visual and metal detectability.  Based on PEEK resin, Ketron MD PEEK is suited for the most demanding high heat dimensionally stable applications.
